Adopted City of Irving Budget Maintains Property Tax Rate; Designates Funding for Key Focus Areas

The City of Irving’s adopted FY 2008-09 budget is strong due to economic development initiatives, increased operational efficiencies and progressive management of resources. City staff presented details of the adopted budget to the City Council during its budget retreat on Aug. 22-23. The budget is aligned with the city’s Strategic Plan to ensure that funding is designated toward key focus areas identified by the City Council. These include public safety, code enforcement, corridor enhancements, non-compliant apartments and capital improvement projects. Full article

budget will raise more property taxes than last year’s budget by
$4,819,137 or 5.13%, and of that amount $2,018,413 is tax revenue to be
raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
